Another book from the cozy-crime genre. This time not from London, but from beautiful Cornwall. Another region that is on my bucket list, but unfortunately I haven't visited it yet. That's why it's good to read about it every now and then. Dreams are sometimes much better than reality.

I notice that I like this genre more and more, most thrillers are too bloody, too detailed for me. Or too psycho. Cozy crime is more ... "cosy", humorous and sometimes still very emotional and exciting.
This cozy-crime here was a very good choice. Many thanks, as always, to dp-Verlag for providing it.

Jodie "Nosey" Parker quits her job with the London Metropolitan Police for the sake of her daughter and moves with her to Cornwall to open a catering business. In theory it all sounds very simple, but unfortunately Jodie soon realises that she can't just lock the policewoman in the cupboard. She is far too curious for that, too nosey.
This is also the case when her old school friend and ex-boyfriend hires her for his wedding and his ex-wife is murdered during the preparations for the celebration. And to make matters worse, the bride disappears without a trace, so that the investigating officer quickly assumes a double murder and arrests the groom.

Somehow Jodie always manages to stay ahead of DCI Withers' investigation, or stumble right into it. And she finds increasing pleasure in annoying him. Withers is visibly annoyed by Jodie and threatens to arrest her several times before he can pull himself together and realise the benefits of working together.
Somehow she always manages to stay ahead of DCI Withers' investigations, or stumble into the middle of them. And she increasingly enjoys annoying him. Withers is visibly annoyed by Jodie and threatens to arrest her several times before he can pull himself together and realise the benefits of working together.

Can the two manage to throw their dislike overboard and solve the case? Or does DCI Withers really put Jodie in jail? And why does Jodie suddenly have to look after a small dog?

The Cover ist very pretty. Fits to the Story.

I like the humour that Fiona Leitch reveals in her writing. I actually read through the story almost in one piece. And I am very curious to see what happens next.

Little fun fact: I ran the word through three translation programs. The table of contents, which is usually printed on the back of the cover, is really called blurb. If it is wrong for a native speaker, I apologize and ask for correction.

4.5 out of 5 unicorns (rounded up to 5)
