As the granddaughter of Italian immigrants, Pina looks different from other children: she has black hair and darker skin. That's not the only difference: Pina is guileless and sometimes naive and, unlike others, is not just looking out for her own advantage. She is often ostracized, but she also celebrates triumphs. Hard-working and diligent, she achieves everything she sets out to do despite many obstacles. In the end, she also manages to go on a shamanic journey that changes her life.
