Dr. A. K. Chakravarthy is the Head, Division of Entomology & Nematology, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Hesaraghatta Lake Post, Bangalore. With over three decades of experience of teaching, research and extension, Dr. Chakravarthy has been the investigator for over 30 research projects and has guided more than 20 students for post graduation. A Ph.D., from Punjab Agriculture University and Fellow from IARI, New Delhi, he is a member of several National and International scientific academia, an advisor, a panelist, a referee, reviewer, editor and he is associated with publication of thirty national and international journals worldwide. A field oriented, widely travelled biologist, he is actively working on novel approaches in Integrated Pest Management, Host Plant Interaction, Vertebrate Pest Management, Biodiversity and environmental conservation issues. Dr. Abraham Verghese Ph.D, FRES (London) began his research career even while he was an undergraduate student. His aptitude was in field ecology and quite early in his career, was drawn to insects (Entomology) and birds (Ornithology). He is a Gold Medalist in his Masters and Doctoral programmes. He was the National Coordinator for fruit flies from 2001-2005. He was also the Head, Division of Entomology, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore Dr. Verghese during his career spanning more than three decades has also taken important research leaderships. He has been the Principal Investigator in 12 projects of ICAR, DST, APEDA, NATP, Govt. of Karnataka, etc. Currently he is the Director, National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Insects, Bangalore. He has played an active role in founding two important plant protection journals - Insect Environment and Pest Management of Horticultural Ecosystems. Entomologist of repute. He has over 35 years of experience in Teaching, Research and Extension in Entomology and several publications to his credit. He has guided numerous post graduate students to M.Sc. and Ph.D. He is a member of several Entomological Societies and is on the editorial board of Entomological journals. Dr. N E Thyagaraj is Professor and Head, Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Hassan. He has over 30 years of experience in pest management in planation and spice crops. He has also specialized in vertebrate pest management with a number of publications. He has guided several students for Masters degree program. He is an avid birdwatcher too.
