Autoren-Porträt von Dave Sharp
David John Sharp was born in Takaka, New Zealand in 1949, and has a sister, Jill, two years older than him. His carefree childhood in this small rural town was a complete contrast to some of the areas and situations he found himself in whilst travelling later on in life. He finished school at the age of 15 and went into an apprenticeship at the local butchers. After qualifying Dave set off to travel the world.Beginning in Australia, then taking his backpack through Canada, the USA, Central and South America, he had many an adventure along the way. After returning to Canada and Alaska once more to work, he finally flew out to South East Asia and continued his journey.
After his travels and a short stint back in New Zealand, Dave returned to Australia to work to help fund his continuing journey around the world. This never happened as he met his future wife while working in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Dave married Julie and they had 3 children together, Benjamin, Dan and Claire.
The family lived in Perth WA while raising their children and managing their small earthmoving business. These days Dave is retired and spends most of his time on their small farm north of Dongara WA where he has some cattle, sheep and pigs.
