Cynthia Townley is the author of the popular new crime-fiction series ¿ the Detective Oliver Rousseau novels.

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, she grew up on the south side. With only one television in the house, she discovered a love for reading and spent hours with her nose in Nancy Drew books and the Hardy Boys Mysteries. Later, she branched out to reading true-crime novels, which inspired her lifelong love of writing. To this day, she remains a fan of mystery-suspense TV, movies, and books - although she leans toward fiction.

After raising three kids, and in more recent years working for Big Oil - and transferring from Missouri to Colorado, to Texas, to Oklahoma, and back to Texas (Whew!), she never gave up on the dream that someday when she retired she would try her hand at writing and that time came in 2010.

When Townley researched detective crime novels and saw they were a dime-a-dozen on the book shelves and cyber shelves, she decided to try a different approach - and one that seems quite lucrative based on her skyrocketing readership in the Detective Oliver Rousseau series. She incorporated psychics in her novels to help detectives solve the crimes. Not too much¿ and not too little mind you¿ but just the right amount of mystical powers to make even the most discerning skeptics believing in these flesh-and-blood characters that will keep you coming back for more. Townley has shown us that the best books might just land outside the present boundaries she is that good at what she does.
