The first part of the book presents meditations and discourses on the Glory of Christ with the difference between faith and sight, while the second part presents the application of the foregoing meditations.

John Owen (1616-1683) was an English Nonconformist church leader, theologian, and academic administrator at the University of Oxford. Owen was a spirited defender monergism, emphasizing the sovereignty of God and the authority of the Bible. He believed in individual and distinct worship of each of the persons of the Trinity. Besides his academic and literary concerns, Owen was continually involved in affairs of state.
