For almost thirty years, he was president of Orphans of Italy. In 1996, he founded the Albanian Children Fund in New York and the Albanian Children Foundation in Albania.
For his contributions, he received the Congressional Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the highest awards of the Legions of Merit of Italy, Portugal, and Albania.
