Produktinformationen zu „The Ashland Trilogy / The Ashland Trilogy (ePub)“
This family saga that travels through time-from modern Toronto to Depression-era Kentucky-and explores how the ghosts of the past shape our history.
Every family has its stories: joys and losses, hopes and regrets. For the family that populates these three novels, the secrets forgotten with the passing of years become suddenly accessible, as journeys through time unite loved ones across the decades.
Shadow of Ashland: Leo Nolan's mother shows him a rose just before she dies-and claims it was given to her by her brother, who disappeared fifty years earlier. Leo is sure it's the delirium talking, the rambling of a sick and elderly woman. But after her death, letters from the same long-lost brother begin to arrive at the family home, postmarked 1934-plunging Leo into a journey that will take him all the way from Canada to Ashland, Kentucky, where he will walk through a window that leads to another time and world.
A Witness to Life: This prequel focusing on Leo's maternal grandfather, Martin Radey, and the chronology of his life "is an emotionally charged experience that will not be soon forgotten" (Dallas Morning News).
St. Patrick's Bed: In the final chapter to the Ashland Trilogy, a son of the next generation asks questions about his biological father and sets off along with Leo on a quest for his heritage and history.
A highly acclaimed epic from "a special writer," The Ashland Trilogy blends the fantastical and the real in a tale that will resonate with anyone who has yearned to know more about the generations who came before (The Globe and Mail).

Pressezitat
Praise for Shadow of Ashland“Wonderfully imagined and poetically told . . . With Leo’s narration as evocative as the pages of a newly discovered family album, this proves a remarkably affecting literary work that the publisher rightly compares to Jack Finney’s Time and Again.” —Publishers Weekly
“Shadow of Ashland succeeds because of Mr. Green’s dedication to exploring its underlying themes of redemption, resolution and homecoming.” —The New York Times Book Review
“Green has devised a truly mysterious mystery, he writes with a real and rare sympathy for his characters.” —The Atlanta Constitution
“A love story, time travel epic, ghost story, labor history, road novel and bank heist, all with the added touch of Steinbeckian metaphysics. For me it was the surprise of the year, a rich evocation of 1934 small-town Kentucky that winds up completely unpredictable.” —The Edmonton Journal, Top Fiction Pick of the Year
“Green weaves history, fantasy and mystery into a delicate web but maintains the magic of his story by not trying to explain too much. This is a jewel of a novel, sensitively told and filled with fascinating characters.” —Booklist
“This is perhaps the finest novel discovery of the year: a haunting story . . . which evolves into a time-travelling thriller . . . [A] truly memorable, unique story which stands out from the crowd.” —Midwest Book Review
Praise for A Witness to Life
“Mr. Green’s remembrance of things past becomes an emotionally charged experience that will not soon be forgotten.” —Dallas Morning News
“Green is a lyrical, contemplative writer whose fantastical tendencies are held firmly in check by the realism demanded by this fictional biography.

Praise for St. Patrick’s Bed
“If Turgenev hadn’t already nabbed it, St. Patrick’s Bed could have been entitled Fathers and Sons . . . Compact, quietly thoughtful, emotionally compelling . . . Green’s skill as a fantasist shines. A special writer.” —The Globe and Mail
“Green infuses the novel with a tender regard for ordinary pathos and for quiet truths.” —Booklist
