The Master vampire has been destroyed, taking with him the power to lead and control the vampire population, or so the members of the Domestic Security Agency task force dedicated to destroying vampires believed. He learns quickly that the trio, calling themselves "The Virate," has acquired a book containing the writings of an ancient Master detailing a plan for the vampire conquest of the world. It becomes the mission of Alex Chance, known to the vampires as "The Nemesis," to find and stop them before they can claim an ancient power that will give them greater control over the vampire population and a unity that will bring about the downfall of humanity.
