Ana Pacheco, weekly columnist for the Santa Fe New Mexican, has deep roots in Santa Fe. Her ancestor Diego de Vargas led the city's resettlement in 1692, Don Gaspar Avenue is named after her great-great-great grandfather Don Gaspar Ortiz, and Pacheco Street is named for her great-grandfather José de la Cruz Pacheco.
