- reflect on why change is important for your school
- motivate your teaching staff;
- create the conditions for a whole school change;
- develop practical strategies to make changes long lasting;
- and assess and monitor changes taking place.
Providing case studies and examples of school change from leading practitioners throughout, this book is an invaluable guide for all those involved in school leadership, management and change.
Ethel Sanders' career in education spans thirty-five years. She taught for twenty-one years in primary schools in Essex and east London, before being appointed as head teacher of a junior school in the London Borough of Havering. Six years later, she led the amalgamation of this school with an adjoining infant school as head of the newly created three form entry primary school. Ethel was one of forty-five head teachers of primary schools, judged by Ofsted to be outstanding, who were invited to form the National SCITT in Outstanding Primary Schools in partnership with the University of Nottingham in 1997. She was a member of the SCITT management board for five years, representing head teachers in the London and South East region. Ethel holds a Masters in Educational Leadership and, since leaving headship, has become involved in educational research, working with the University of Nottingham on the Creative Whole School Change programme.
