Produktinformationen zu „Illusion (ePub)“
The play in our hands exceeds mere meanings and medicines, as it draws for us the character "Argan" with all vitality and comedy. He is a rich man who suffers from persistent health disorders and aspires to find the perfect treatment that he will save from his health concerns. Doctors besieged him with medicines and treatments, and he is trying hard to feel the improvement but to no avail.
He finds himself in a permanent confusion among the diverse means of recovery and the diseases that he deludes in himself, so that everything around him becomes a source of pain. He cannot rely on his mind to make rational decisions because of his obsession with his health, and he becomes easy to exploit by greedy doctors who have recipes and control his life.
The funny events overlap in this rich house, as his daughter's marriage to one of the doctors is made in a cycle of laughter and ridicule. The play offers a composite image of ambition, greed and arrogance, and how fake ideas can control the human being and make him laugh at himself. Ultimately, it highlights the strange balance between reason and obsession and its impact on our behavior and decisions in life.
