This is the story of Elmira.
This, too, is the story of The Freedom Galley.
As a young girl, Elmira has a hero. Her hero is her everything.
In the middle of an unmentioned sea, a mighty galleon crawls through thick morning fog. The sky before it glows an epic shade of red as the sun finally rises.
As time spins its ceaseless hands, Elmira watches in agony as her hero begins to fade. She, too, finds herself waning.
On the bow of the ship, the Captain stands with his fists on his hips. He shows no sign of stress; he is resolute. Strong. Ready.
Elmira grows weary. The doctors call it anxiety. Panic. Depression. They give her tests, information, and pills. But is it really just a misfire?
Captain waits. His Crew trusts him; his timing is always right.
Finished, Elmira sets her burdens aside and lies down. She allows herself to be buried with piles and piles of warm, shimmering sand. The last thing she sees are thin wisps of clouds shuffling over the moon.
Seconds before her breath runs out, the vibrations of their footsteps grow louder. A shovel tings and crunches against sand and shells. At long last, they've found their treasure.
She barely hears the shouts of her discovery as they echo into a purple twilight. Strangers grab her from her wrists and pull her from her doom. She feels nothing.
The Crew gain their final member, a woman, the treasure they'd been seeking for nearly twenty years.
Once aboard The Freedom Galley, Elmira is revived. From the Captain and His Crew, she learns her vital truth. She is refilled. Solidified. Readied.
The Crew and its Captain understand what they must do. They must advise Elmira.
Elmira understands her call: she must liberate her beloved hero before it's too late. She knows that she is able, if she's brave enough. She knows that there is still time - but not much.
As she sets out with the help of The Freedom Galley, deep questions haunt her. Will her enemy defeat her, or will she defeat it? Most importantly - will her hero live long enough to be rescued?
