Produktinformationen zu „Fiby and Fingol (ePub)“
This book is based on my dog Fiby (Frithi in Greek) and how she was reared to be a guard dog for my family's home in Athens, Greece. Despite being a guard dog Fiby is one of the most intelligent and playful dogs I ever knew. The story describes her ferocity as a guardian of the home but also as gentle and loving friend, especially to the boy next door named Fingol. Fingol is based on myself but also on my best friend Vragellis who happens to live on the opposite side of the street and who also shares a strong bond with Fiby. The climax takes place in the middle of summer which is the best season for thieves because most people are away on vacation and most houses are empty. Fingol and his parents remain in Athens however and one morning two thieves break into Fingol's house while Fingol is playing with Fiby at Fiby's owner's back garden. Fingol hears the break-in and immediately runs towards the thieves. He is pushed down to the floor and kicked, being in a seriously dangerous situation Fiby comes to the rescue. Several of the neighbors go over to Fingol's house due to the commotion and the police is immediately called. His parents arrive and treat his wounds and the thieves are apprehended. Final page is Fingol embracing Fiby, realizing that a true friend saved his life that day.
Autoren-Porträt von Ramy Giannakakis
My name is Ramy Giannakakis and I am a 23 year old college student currently attending Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts. I have always been interested in literature that gives us worldly and historical value. Books that transcend boundaries and cultures and that share unique cultural perspectives.I am especially interested in old folk tales, especially those that have rose out of my cultural heritage. I am Greco-Egyptian and there so many beautiful stories from both Greece and Egypt that are in danger of being completely forgotten. The next story I am currently adapting into a children's book is Ancient
Egyptian one, retelling the story of a prince and his magician. My mission is to revive them again and, most importantly share with children across the globe so that they can all take part in saving these endangered historical literary artifacts.
