Produktinformationen zu „Corkscrewed (ePub)“
"e;Who would have thought there could be so much excitement to be had from corkscrews!"e; This is the story of Michael Anthony Cunningham (Mack to many), who collects corkscrews: the first in his collection preserves a happy childhood moment. Before he is fully grown he has collected 471 and, when in his twenties, he chooses to sell them. As an adult he is free to make choices. But choices are subject to influences. As a child he had little choice of influences... Complications are wont to occur, not least because of interplay - between friends, family, acquaintances, work colleagues - along that continuum which none of us can avoid: the continuum that has observation at one end and stretches through influence and manipulation to control at the other. Words manipulate emotions; "e;You'll find your place in the end"e; - reassure if spoken by a friend; threaten if from an enemy. Silence has its own effect. Corkscrewed is an intriguing tale that will appeal to anyone who enjoys using their own imagination to draw unique conclusions about the characters and their decisions.
Autoren-Porträt von P. Theophilus
Somewhat unusually for a novel, P. Theophilus writes a preamble which includes a statement of intent: to tell the story objectively, from the observational end of the continuum; to not impose the author's perceptions onto the reader. And at the same time, owns that such a goal is impossible to fully achieve: there is an inevitable degree of manipulation in the author's choice of which parts of the story to tell, for no story can be told in full.
