"Stay," Max said, walking toward her and Gabriel.

"Stay. I can tell you want to," Max said. He stopped beside Gabriel and laid a hand on the other man's shoulder. "You uncrossed your arms and you haven't taken a step toward the door. I think you want to be here. It doesn't mean anything has to happen, Tara. I'm only saying you should stay."

Both men watched her, waiting for a response.

Her throat clicked as she swallowed.
