My college years gave me knowledge on what issues I was learning in each class and I thought that knowledge did not spill to my daily life outside of the school. However, looking back, with all the losses, voids and turmoil, I found my strength, courage, determination and purpose.

I was born in Mexico City in 1963. In January of 1973, I immigrated and reunited with my family in the California Central Valley. I attended elementary schools and high school in Atwater, junior college in Merced and the university in Turlock California. Officially, I began writing at age 14 in Spanish. I began writing in English in my college years and soon after, I began to translate my own work in both languages.
