The three girls are playing in the backyard when they see a puppy wandering around. The puppy and Ali are instant friends, and the little dog follows Ali around for the rest of the day. Not long after that, some boys start picking on them around the swing set, but Ali and her friends just ignore them. When the boys return later with water balloons, however, the girls must run away. They split up, and Ali finds herself hiding in the garden of the local haunted house. But when she suddenly falls into an abandoned coal chute, Ali is afraid she may be trapped for good with ghosts nearby. She thinks no one knows where she is-but help is on the way!
