It adequately covers the properties of fluids, pressure and its measurement, hydrostatic forces on surface, buoyancy, and floatation, kinematics of fluid motion, dynamics of fluid flow, and dimensional and model analysis. The concepts are supported by numerous solved examples and multiple-choice questions to aid self-learning in students. The textbook also contains illustrated diagrams for better understanding of the concepts. The book is extremely useful for the undergraduate and postgraduate students of engineering and natural sciences.

Shiv Kumar is Ex. Associate Professor and HOD, College of GGSIP University, Delhi, India. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Machine Design and Automation Engineering from NIT Jalandhar, Punjab, and Master's degree in Thermal Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (presently Delhi Technological University, Delhi). He has 18 years of teaching experience. He has authored several books in core subjects of mechanical engineering like heat and mass transfer, fluid systems, engineering graphics, thermal engineering, fluid mechanics and fluid machines, basics of mechanical engineering, and elements of mechanical engineering.
