The Europeanization of the post-communist countries after the end of the Cold War has been determined by the strength of their relationships with the European Union (EU) and by their recognition of its values and norms. The purpose of this research is to show that the transformational role of the EU is of great importance in the process of introducing change to the countries in transition. Due to its history and location, Ukraine has been faced with the dilemma between European choice' and Eurasian challenge.' The book explores the EU's role in solving this dilemma and argues that the commitment of the EU to Ukraine is essential in the process of country's Europeanization. Moreover, it is necessary for the continuity of the promoting democratic change in the region. Ukraine needs the EU and vice versa: its geopolitical position between Russia and Europe plays an important role in European security and stability. The book will help the reader to grasp the changes in Ukraine and country's relations with the EU.
