This volume examines the advances of invasive monitoring by means of biosensors and microdialysis. Biosensing and sampling devices present excellent capabilities for their use in continuous monitoring of patients' biochemical parameters. However, certain issues remain to be solved in order to ensure a more widespread use of these techniques in today's medical practices.
