This book reports a study of female academics in Scottish universities, examines the reasons behind a lack of career advancement, evaluates academics' perceptions regarding the causes of their lack of progression, and examines whether the introduction of Gender Equality Schemes in 2007 and the Equality Act in 2010 have made a discernible difference. This study will be updated in subsequent publications in order to track progress in female academic careers.
