U.S. Counterterrorism examines the "war on modern terrorism," beginning in the Nixon Administration through the end of the Obama Administration. The policy and programs of each administration in response to the changing terrorist threats faced over time are examined. This includes the evolution of the terrorism threat from primarily secular groups with relatively narrow goals, to those with fundamentalist religion broad goals such as the rise of ISIS and the Islamic Caliphate. U.S. Counterterrorism will serve as a comprehensive review of terrorism and counterterrorism efforts over the last 50 years. Since the past is often prologue, the book provides fundamental insight into where we have come from to turn an eye to where we should be going.
