David Byrne's play Secret Life of Humans was first seen during a sell-out, award-winning run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017. It had its London premiere at New Diorama in April 2018, ahead of transferring Off-Broadway.

David is also a comedy writer, developing both solo projects and joint scripts with writing partner, Richard Hurt. The Party was optioned by BBC comedy, after winning their nationwide Laughing Stock contest. He is the recipient of several Peter Brook Awards, the Off-West End Award for Best Artistic Director, the Enfant Terribles Prize, and was voted one of The Stage's 100 most influential people working in theatre.
