Fiona Beals has recently completed her doctorate at Victoria University of Wellington. Her research focuses on the sociology of youth, youth deviance, and the sociology of education. She has begun to look at the ways in which young people can use both critical and multimodal literacies as contemporary tools for positive resistance.
