Klappentext zu „Occupational Aspirations “
One of the most important decisions in life concerns the occupation an individual aspires to hold. With all the choices available, what compels an individual to favor one occupation over another? Are there certain factors that predispose individuals to select one occupation while rejecting other occupations? Do certain demographic attributes, academic achievements, socioeconomic status or personal attitudes funnel individuals into certain careers? In order to fully understand what shapes the occupational aspirations of community college students, three conceptual categories of information provide the foundation for the research in this book: occupational status, theories of career development, and characteristics of community college students. A more complete understanding of the factors that affect occupational aspirations enhances the body of knowledge concerning career choice; thus enabling postsecondary education institutions to better meet the needs of their students.
