Jacques Le Goff, geboren 1924, war Professor für mittelalterliche Geschichte und Direktor der École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Er wurde unter anderem mit der 'Goldmedaille des CNRS' (1991), dem 'Historikerpreis der Stadt Münster' (1993) und dem 'Hegel-Preis der Stadt Stuttgart' (1994) ausgezeichnet. Jacques Le Goff verstarb am 1. April 2014.
