Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.), belonging to family Solanaceae is the most important vegetable. India is next only to China in area and production of vegetables. Insects attack in tomato from the time of planting until the fruit is harvested. Insects can cause the death of the tomato plant and damage to fruits. The major insect pests which play a most important role in the economic losses of tomato crop are leaf miner, aphid, jassid, whitefly, and fruit borer. Various approaches for insect pests management in tomato are chemicals, botanicals, use of resistant cultivars. chemical insecticide leaves a film of persistent poison over the foliage and fruits which is hazardous. phyto extracts natural eco-friendly pesticides are cheap safer and affordable for small farmers compared to synthetic pesticides. Another advantage of phyto extracts is that they are not very persistent. In view of the above facts, this research work entitled "Study on seasonal incidence of insect pest complexof tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) and their management with phyto extracts". This book would be of paramount importance for the researchers and those scientists working for various organic projects.
