The introduction of opticalcoherence tomography into clinical practice in 1996 made itpossible to routinely measure retinal thickness in a non-contactand non-invasive manner. This analysis document the normaldistribution of macular, retinal nerve fiber layer thickness andoptic disc parameters, as measured using OCT in a population-basedsample of young persons and to examine the relationship of theseparameters to ocular variables (spherical equivalent refraction andaxial length) and systemic variables (age, gender, anthropometry,ethnicity and birth parameters), should be especially useful toprofessional in retina field or any ophthalmologist.
