Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. Cancer is the second biggest cause of death in India, growing at 11 per cent annually. From a total of 58 million deaths worldwide in 2005, cancer accounts for 7.6 million of all deaths. Deaths from cancer in the world are projected to continue rising, with an estimated 9 million people dying from cancer in 2015 and 11.4 million dying in 2030. The burden of cancer doubled globally between 1975 and 2000. It is estimated that it will double again by 2020 and nearly triple by 2030. In this book we attempted to explore the comprehensive review of cancer threat, phases of cancer, role of genes, retro-viruses in exaggeration of cancer in present scenario and paradigm shift in the discovery of newer targeting molecules for cancers.
