Klappentext zu „Antibacterial Activity of Plant Extract Against Uropathogens “
Gram negative uropathogens were screened for ESBL, MBL, AmpC beta lactamases production and further antibacterial activity of Clove, Neem, Black Pepper were tested against uropathogens. Clove (100 mg/ml) showed best antibacterial activity against Proteus (19 mm) and least against P. aeruginosa (14 mm). Neem (100 mg/ml) showed best antibacterial activity against A. baumannii (15 mm) and least against P. aeruginosa (12 mm). Black pepper (100 mg/ml) showed best antibacterial activity against A. baumannii (16 mm) and least against E. coli (12 mm). Although, all three plant s ethanolic-extracts were effective at tested concentrations against all beta lactamase and non beta lactamase-producing uropathogens but clove was found to be more anti-bacterial than black pepper and neem. Therefore, present studies concluded that medicinal plants contain bioactive-compounds which have potential anti-bacterial activity against a wide range of bacterial pathogens. Further, well-designed in vivo clinical trials are needed for isolation, identification and characterization of newer bio molecules that can be formulated into antibacterial drugs.
